EU stipulates new forms of emissions reduction for light commercial vehicles

Recently, the EU notified the WTO Secretariat about the "Amendment of Regulations (EU) No 510/2011, which stipulates the form of emission reduction for new light commercial vehicles" (G/TBT/N/EU/60).
The European Union proposal confirms that the objective of reducing the CO2 emissions of new light commercial vehicles to 147 grams per kilometre in 2020 is feasible, and stipulates the following:
The general parameters of the vehicle mass in the state of travel remain unchanged;
The limit value curve remains linearly skewed by 100% compared to 2010, meaning that similar reduction efforts are made for different truck parts; the super-emissions fee is 95 euros for every 1 kilogram exceeded;
With the preparation of a new vehicle testing program, ecological innovation can continue to be applied;
Small-volume producers have greater flexibility in implementing their emission reduction targets;
The smallest truck manufacturer, with an annual production capacity of less than 500 vehicles, does not have to meet emission reduction targets.
As the regulatory system applied after 2020 is beneficial to the automotive industry, the proposal will be further reviewed by December 31, 2014.
The proposed approval date and proposed effective date of this notified regulation: To be determined.
