Nissan Motor announced on August 29 that it will increase the prices of six commercial vehicles such as minivans and small trucks in Japan from October 1. The rate of increase is 30,000 to 70,000 yen per vehicle (1 to 3%). Affected by soaring prices of raw materials, the company decided to transfer some of its cost growth to the selling price of commercial vehicles that use more steel. However, on the passenger car side, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. will temporarily suspend the price increase for passenger vehicles because Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan’s largest automaker, will restrict price increases to certain models such as hybrids.
