The Beijing Food Safety Monitoring Center currently researches and explores methods for detecting “ditch oil”. Some researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Technology believe that by measuring the conductivity of the sample, it is also possible to determine the waste oil (multiple experiments have shown that the conductivity of the waste oil is 5 to 7 times the level of edible oil. There are also institutions that analyze the ratio of "oil in the cooking oil".

Liu Qingyu therefore appealed that the national quality inspection department should form a unified and standardized testing method for "drainage oil" and promote it to various inspection agencies to facilitate the identification and screening of "drainage oil."
